Hasselhoffnung
In almost all of the articles about David Hasselhoff on the BBC, there is some remark apart from the topic in hand that alludes to his evergreen popularity in Germany. This is not the case with this latest one though. Wind out of sails in the first sentence, but I roll on regardless through the ocean of inaccuracy and half-truth. His enduring popularity in India barely gets a glance. And people still like him in the USA, too, probably more so because of his white-knuckle alcoholism. That's where the hair on his chest came from.
How exactly has it come about that Hasselhoff been connected with Germany? It's the one thing that everyone says about him whenever you go to the States. It's just not fair, especially as there are really a lot of middle-aged shitty talents on shitty talent shows. Talent is relative, anyway. I mean, there's no greater shame in liking David Hasselhoff than there is in liking Michael Bolton. Well anyway, the Germans must endure this mockery too.
Just one more cross to bear.

Don't hassle the Hoff! David Hasselhoff is the shit! Legend! Deutsches Kulturgut, so to speak. I bet if you ask people in the streets of Berlin about him, they will tell you he is german.
He is the reason for buying my first Speedo. I will never forget him.

You're right for a change, Ben. It's so boring when people who've never been to Germany go on about DH's popularity there. It's roughly equivalent to claiming that everyone in Britain loves, I dunno, Jason Donovan.
