Hauptbahnhof Incident
Tennager stabs 28 people over a kilometer at the opening ceremony Friday night
I was shocked to learn some kid from Neukölln stabbed 28 people in the opening of the Hauptbahnhof last night -- I, like a lot of people in the city, was there, but left too early or was too far from the incident, which happened about four blocks away from the vicinity of the station. One of the first attacked was HIV-positive, which has raised fears that some of the other victims have been infected.
Articles are calling this "running amok," which is exactly what it is from the onset -- we know little else about the incident, except that nobody died though, several of the injuries were serious, and the kid was only 17. Younger than the Columbiners and the kid who lost it in the police station and shot three cops. It's a bizarre crime, but one that has no connection to the World Cup and how quickly they're going to be able to respond to emergency events during it. I'd say the timing is poor, but when is the timing right for overwhelming shit like this?
