Not Just A Tractor Shed
Milwaukee farmer plans Hitler memorial in his backyard
Ted Junker, 87, plans a grand opening June 25 and says his goal is to clear up what he says are inaccuracies about the war and Hitler's role in it. "I like the U.S.," he said. "I can't understand why people don't know the truth. This is for understanding, not hate." Junker said the memorial is in a concrete structure in the side of a hill and has a German flag and other items for display.
As long as there are people alive that were in the war, there will be people who sympathise with them. As long as there's that backbone of support, Nazism and Holocaust denial will flourish wherever possible. It'll be a lot easier to oppose the threat when it isn't authentic, and thus legitimate. Disenchanted nationalists will point to a legacy they know nothing about. Therefore, we hope that the passing of a generation will at least yield an end to this embarrassment.
In the meantime, don't tell me your grandfather never done anything crazy.
