Very Fanny Ferdinand

According to this fascinating article in Der Spiegel online, the guitarist from Franz Ferdinand grew up in Germany, and became very fond of the great nation that I too have grown to love. In fact, the article successfully debunks many stereotypes about the Germans even while it is mentioning them in vaguely disparaging ways.

But there is no great surprise in this, for Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish band and the propensity for the gaelic enemies of the English to make peace with their enemies knows no bounds. Did not Ireland remain neutral in the war? O, I am an intellectual babarian and I am tired, so tired, of the dreadful impositions made upon small-minded people of my ilk. I too was ridiculed like this McCarthy fellow for being German. By my best friends too.

Simply drink. Drink the night away with a German. Who'd have thought it could be so easy?
