Transatlantic Aviation Enters New Era

It’s a deal. The EU and US airlines sealed a pact to open up their aviation markets. The deal covers ownership and control rights of eachothers airlines, as well as more freedom on national connecting and direct flights. The pact will take effect on October 28, 2007 and will hopefully increase competition in the sluggish transantlantic market.
You’ll see Lufthansa and British Airways upping their stakes in the US market and JetBlue or the Continentals competing nationally with airlines in the EU. I want to see better service, prices and a flatter market.
Germany, which holds the rotating EU presidency, has said the 27 nation bloc would continue to press for a change in the U.S. limits on foreign investment.
And don’t forget to pay your atmosfair fees on your flight from Berlin to New York. Since your emitting a whopping 4160 kg CO2 crisscrossing the atlantic. I am sure you can dish out an extra 84 Euros and support climate protection projects around se world!
