Boxing: Gentleman's Revenge

Henry Maske, five-time German cruiserweight champion and Olympic gold winner, known to many as the "Gentleman of Boxing" because he is wont to wear suits and use big words (I kid), ended a 10-year hiatus to the sport last Saturday to have another go at the man who put him in retirement, the American Virgil Hill. The match was a highly anticipated bout of revenge (Revanche). What the twelve rounds failed to meet in excitement expecations (the action, recalling the prevailing German football style, was mostly defensive, some would call it boring) it made up for in anticipation expectations: Maske came out on top, triumphant and long-winded, and the German sports press, which had been savaging him steadily before the match, had to eat their words. The return of the king, indeed.
