USA Beats Germany on Ice

The last big win of Germany against the United States was in 1976. It ended with in a 4-1 victory for the DEB skaters and sealed the bronze medal at the Olympics - the best result to date. Before todays meet-up between fritz and anglo on frozen water, red, black and gold hit the ice with a slight motivation booster. After a whopping 21 years in the making, the Germans beat the Czechs 2-0.

In todays match, an early goal by Paul Stastny set the tone. A shot to the post and open netter by Daniel Kreutzer, only hit the goalies skates, could have turned the game around. Thanks to Statsny, who put another biscuit in the basket and assisted number three, he helped USA Hockey get closer to the quarters in Moscow.

Both teams are young with little NHL-shooting power, since most of them are still in the playoffs or enjoy time off from the 82+ game season. Young 19-old Philip Gogulla has game and might play in the States next year. To advance to the quarters, Gogulla's mates need help from Slovakia and a W against Belarus. Overall, head coach Uwe Krupp has done an excellent job at putting together the team. As for the red, white and blue. I think they have a decent shot at gold.
