Classic Football Rivalry at Wembley

Germany and England are facing eachother again, in football, tomorrow in the new Wembley stadium with 90,000 in the seats and 8 million on TV. The first match ever played between anglo and fritz was in 1899, Germany got whopped 13-2. When looking at the track record of English wins, they never win when it counts. With three World Cups in '54, '74 and '90 to show for, England has one: '66. And that one even slipped through the cracks on a questionable 3:2 goal.

For Wednesdays game, you take England at 13-10 with totesport or Germany at 11-4 with Bet365. Although both teams are low on star power, it's always a joy to see this healthy rivalry. Most notable semi-meaningless games were the 5:1 English win in Munich or the 1:0 German win in the old Wembley. My favorite is the Euro '96 game seen above at Wembley, again. Klinsmann, head coach during the World Cup '06 and former Tottenham striker, won as a player in '96, will be in the stadium.
