German Car Secretly French

Automaker Citroën, in a new ad campaign for its revamped C5, has taken the bold move of dubbing its unmistakeably French car "Unmistakeably German."

Here we see a dashing, slick-haired swashbuckler (and car driver) run through the gamut of German (read: Bavarian) cliches in a record 90 seconds. The point is unclear, but the range of stereotypes is impressive and offensive. Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries as soundtrack? Sure, why not.

The ad's production team, by the way, is British, as is presumably the target audience. Why this works is something you might learn in marketing school, because we haven't the slightest.
